This Privacy Policy explains how Brain Rot Tracker ("Brain Rot Tracker," "we," "us," or "our") handles information when you use the Brain Rot Tracker Android application (the "App").

Short version: Brain Rot Tracker is designed as a local-first screen time tool. The App does not include an internet permission, does not create user accounts, does not show ads, and is not designed to transmit your usage history, installed-app list, settings, or Focus Mode data to us.

1. Information the App Accesses or Stores Locally

The App needs certain on-device information to provide screen time tracking, app selection, Smart Interventions, Focus Mode, notifications, analytics, and widgets. This information is processed and stored on your device.

We do not use this information to identify you, build a profile about you on our servers, sell advertising, or send data to third-party analytics services.

2. Permissions

The App may request or rely on these Android permissions and system capabilities:

Usage Access: Used to read Android screen time and app usage events so the App can calculate your statistics. This is processed on device.
Package/App Visibility: Used to show user-facing installed apps so you can choose which apps count as brain rot apps or Focus Mode targets. Installed app inventory is treated as sensitive by Google Play and is used only for App functionality.
Notifications: Used only if you enable reminders or summaries.
Display Over Other Apps: Used for Smart Interventions and Focus Mode screens.
Accessibility Service: Used for Smart Interventions and Focus Mode to detect when selected apps are opened. The App is configured not to retrieve window content. It does not read messages, typed text, passwords, photos, contacts, browsing content, or in-app content from other apps.
Foreground Service and Boot Completed: Used to keep Focus Mode, scheduled tracking, notifications, and widget updates working reliably.

3. Information We Do Not Collect

The App is not designed to collect or transmit the following to us:

Names, email addresses, phone numbers, account credentials, or payment information;
Contacts, calendar events, photos, videos, audio recordings, files, messages, or browsing content;
Precise location or approximate location;
Advertising identifiers, device identifiers, crash logs, diagnostics, or analytics events for our use; or
Health, medical, biometric, or fitness data.

4. Data Sharing, Selling, and Advertising

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not use advertising SDKs, analytics SDKs, or third-party tracking SDKs in the App.

Your use of Google Play, Android, your device manufacturer, and any backup or security features on your device may be governed by those providers' separate policies. Their processing is outside our control.

5. Storage, Retention, and Deletion

The App stores data locally using Android app storage, including a local database, shared preferences, and widget preferences. We configure the App to avoid including App data in Android cloud backup or device transfer where Android supports that configuration.

You can delete locally stored App data by using Android system settings to clear the App's storage or by uninstalling the App. We generally cannot delete or export local App data for you because we do not receive or control that data.

6. Security

Because the App is local-first and does not include internet access, remote transmission risk is reduced. Local data security depends on your device, Android version, lock screen, backup settings, and device security practices. Keep your device updated and use a strong screen lock.

7. Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live, privacy laws may give you rights to know, access, correct, delete, or opt out of certain uses of personal information. Because the App is designed so that we do not receive your App usage data, we may not have information that lets us identify you or fulfill a data-specific request. You can still contact us at the address below, and you can control local App data through your device settings.

8. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date and, when required, provide additional notice or request consent. We will not use a policy update to retroactively justify transmitting your local App data to us without appropriate notice and consent.
